I updated my wife’s mini-ITX existing build around August 2022 – everything is new except the case. Her previous build (link) was an i7-7700K with an EVGA CLC120mm AiO cooler mounted at the front (push/pull), and an EVGA GTX 980Ti SC (which I later upgraded to an EVGA 2070...
Desktop Builds
This sub-category details a few of my past custom desktop builds. I had many of my past builds uploaded at EVGA’s ModsRigs website, however they took the site down “for renovations” one day without any advance notice, and it never returned. Sadly all the photos and specs of the many different custom desktop builds I made over maybe 15+ years have been lost. Some of the early builds were just air cooled, some were with AiO water cooling for CPU or both CPU and GPU, and some were full custom water loops. Unfortunately EVGA appears to be winding up their business, so it is unlikely ModsRigs will ever return. I was able to find a few of the builds via the internet archive, but unfortunately the photos for most of them were lost to the ether. What you see here is a very small percentage of the many desktop rigs I built since the early 2000’s.
Water Cooled Z490 with i7-10700K and RTX 3090
I built this Z490 custom water loop rig in early 2021 basically as a temporary build until I could finish putting together a Z590 rig. I probably would not have posted an entry for this build if almost all of the records of my main desktop builds had not...
i7-7700K mini-ITX build
I built this mini-ITX rig for my wife around January 2019 using a Corsair 250D case. For a mini-ITX case, the Corsair 250D is very well thought-out, and there was no problem dropping in a 120mm radiator with push & pull fans in the front. The bequiet! push/pull fans...
i7-7700K with Titan X (Pascal) AiO-cooled build
I built this rig around April 2017 with AiO water cooling on both the CPU and GPU. Overclocked the i7-7700K CPU to 5GHz stable on auto and plenty of room to go higher, but hitting 5GHz was my goal achieved. Temperatures on CPU remained around 55-60°C on full load....
Water Cooled i7-930 with 2 x GTX 480 FTW Hydros (SLI)
This was my first custom water loop build from early 2011, which won a $1,000 ModsRigs draw back in September 2013.
